UEFA on Tuesday banned Italian Football Federation boss Carlo Tavecchio from its next congress and ordered him to hold an anti-racism event in punishment for widely condemned remarks.

An Ebola-Like virus,name: Marburg Virus, Killed Man In Uganda

Kampala - A hospital technician has died of the Ebola-like Marburg virus in Kampala, the Ugandan government announced on Sunday.

The man, aged 30, died in the Mengo hospital where he worked in the capital of the east African country on September 28, 11 days after falling ill, the authorities said.

Tests confirmed the presence of the disease two days later.

Five men to be hanged for gang rape of four women

Five Afghan men are due to be hanged on Wednesday for the gang rape of four women after a trial that was severely criticised by rights’ groups amid a nationwide outcry over the savage attack.

FG to improve training of Niger Delta Youths- Minister

The Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Dr. Stephen Oru, in Abuja on Tuesday reiterated the ministry’s commitment to empower youths in the Niger Delta region.

Oru spoke in an interview with The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN),  explaining that the training of the youth was a continuous exercise designed to create employment for non-militant young persons.

Nigeria has 48m active internet users – NITDA

Abuja –  Nigeria’s active internet users currently stands at over 48 million, Dr Peter Jack, the Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), has said.

A statement issued by NITDA’s Head of Public Affairs, Mrs Hadiza Umar in Abuja on Tuesday, stated that Jack made the assertion in a speech at the global media meet in Dubai.

The meeting was preparatory to the Global Information Technology Exhibition (GITEX) Week 2014.

“In Nigeria, with over 48 million regular internet users, various activities are being carried out online.

“We are currently measuring the impact of the plan and implementation level in preparation for review next year.

Alleged Missing $10.8bn : Audit report ready by month end-Finance Minister

Co— ordinating Minister for the Economy and Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi OKonjo-Iweala has said the audit report on the $10.8 billion unaccounted oil money would be ready at the end of this month.

Okonjo-Iweala who spoke at the Financial Times Africa Summit 2014 with the theme: Consolidating the Continent’s Rise, in London yesterday, said the huge attention the $10.8 billion had generated necessitated the appointment of Price Water House Coopers to carry out a forensic audit which should be ready ending of this month.

According to her,  “Initially it was $48 billion, then $20 billion, but the figure we have always had is $10.8 billion. As the Minister of Finance, if money is missing, we should find out what happened to it and that was why when we went to the Senate to demand for forensic audit, the President supported it and gave us the go ahead.

“We engaged PwC with the Auditor-General taking the lead. They initially asked for 16 weeks to compete the work, they have spent 12 weeks so far and they will be done in a couple of weeks.”

Teachers in Ekiti vow not to resume classes on Oct. 8

The Ekiti Chapter of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), on Tuesday called on its members not to resume for the new academic session on Wednesday as directed by the state government.
