The Australian High Commission has said that it has made a donation of AUD $60,000 (₦ 8.7 million) to the Nigeria Ebola Virus Emergency Appeal.
The initiative was launched by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies on August 11,2014 to help deal with the threat of Ebola in Nigeria.
The High Commission made the announcement via a statement released on Thursday, September 25 in Abuja and signed by its Public Affairs Officer, Okokon Odiongenyi.
The Australian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Jonathan Richardson said:
“I am pleased that the High Commission’s contribution will go towards purchasing vital Personal Protection Equipment for the brave men and women working to fight the spread of this terrible disease,”
The funds would serve to provide improved training for volunteers of the Nigerian Red Cross Society and help efforts to educate the populace about the disease.
