Dangote Donates N150 Million To Fight Against Ebola

 The fight against the Ebola virus in Nigeria has received a huge boost as Aliko Dangote has donated 150 million to the cause.
The donation was announced by the Chief Executive Officer of the Dangote Foundation, Mrs Adhiambo Odaga during a media briefing at the Ministry of Health.

Australia Donates N8.7Million To Combat Disease In Nigeria

The Australian High Commission in Nigeria has said that it has contributed AUD $60,000 (₦ 8.7 million) to the Nigeria Ebola Virus Emergency Appeal.
The Australian High Commission has said that it has made a donation of AUD $60,000 (₦ 8.7 million) to the Nigeria Ebola Virus Emergency Appeal.
The initiative was launched by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies on August 11,2014 to help deal with the threat of Ebola in Nigeria.

Philanthropist and billionaire, Bill Gates has said that the current Ebola outbreak could spread beyond West Africa.
According to Reuters, the Microsoft boss said yesterday, September 29 that it is not clear if enough is being done to contain the disease “given the risks that it will spread to countries beyond West Africa.”

Ebola Death Toll Rises To 3,439- WHO

The number of lives lost in the current Ebola outbreak has increased to 3,439 according to the World Health Organization (WHO).
The WHO made the latest revelation on Friday, October 3, 2014 while also saying that a total of 7,492 cases have been recorded, including the latest patient in the United States.
The new data shows that there had been 739 deaths inGuinea and 623 deaths in Sierra Leone by the end of Oct. 1, and 2,069 deaths in Liberia by Sept. 30. 8 people also died inNigeria.
Fears of an international spread were confirmed recently when an infected Liberian, Thomas Duncan arrived Dallas, Texason September 20 and tested positive to the disease on September 30.

Boko Haram Terrorists Kill 70 In Adamawa

70 residents of Adamawa state, including a 99-year-old man, have reportedly lost their lives after an attack by Boko Haraminsurgents from the night of Thursday, October 2 to Friday, October 3.
The terrorists were said to have attacked Kubi, Garta andKuborshosho in the Michika Local Government Area of the state.

Boat Capsizes In Lagos Killing Two

Tragedy struck in the Igando area of Lagos on Wednesday, October 1 when a boat capsized leading to the death of 2 people.
A female victim was identified simply as Fatima while the man who died was named as Mr. Idowu Lawal.
The boat was said to have left Akesan on a journey to Imoshein Ogun State but it was overwhelmed by the tide.
14 people were however rescued but the exact number of passengers the boat was carrying before the accident is still unknown.
Police officers attached to the area have reportedly arrested two boat operators with a view to finding out what exactly happened.
